Loans & overdrafts

The private banking department considers loan requests for a variety of circumstances from existing clients whose investments we manage.

Examples include:

  • investment in a private company
  • bridging finance to help fund the purchase of a new house
  • probate loans to enable executors to pay inheritance tax

For all such facilities clients are expected to be able to provide acceptable security appropriate to the nature of the underlying transaction.   Generally this will consist of a charge over the investment portfolio(s) we manage for the client.   We do not lend against land or property.   All loans are repayable on demand.

Overdraft facility

  • Flexible short-term financing can also be provided by way of an overdraft facility

Interest rates

Interest will be charged at a percentage over The Royal Bank of Scotland's base rate. Arrangement and other fees are agreed by negotiation.

Interest rates are set at levels to reflect the type of transaction and quality of security. Where possible we use a standard form of documentation to keep costs to the minimum.
