Job Purpose:
To act as a number two to the partner who runs the firm's national tax investigation team in the Corporate Enterprise Group.
Duties:
- Handling high level tax investigations, predominantly SCI COP9 and COP8 and negotiating final settlements of liabilities
- Working in an autonomous role in relation to the candidates own portfolio and assisting colleagues across the group on ad hoc queries
- Spending time in London and other group offices assisting on tax investigation cases
- Assisting in marketing initiatives in order to develop the business.
- Working with and developing less experienced staff
Experience / Qualifications:
- Previous experience of working on tax investigations is essential for the role
- Previous experience working at HM Revenue & Customs is desirable
- University degree
- ACA
- Preferably CTA/ ATII, or HMRC equivalent
- All round corporate /personal tax skills
- Knowledge of IHT/VAT an advantage
- Ability to delegate to and manage a team of less experienced individuals working on the same job
- Ability to inspire others so that client expectations are fulfilled and deadlines are always met
- Willingness to put the hours in where necessary. Ability to take responsibility - knowing when, and when not to, ask questions
- Willingness to develop the tax investigation business
