Job purpose:
To manage the provision of private client and partnership tax compliance services to clients, deal with administrative matters and assisting with provision of planning and advisory services to clients. To undertake review of work of personnel in the private client tax services department.
Duties:
- Prioritise workload of self and junior staff
- Completion of own allocation of complex partnership clients
- To ensure work produced by staff at assistant manager level and below is technically correct and in an appropriate style
- May be asked to contribute to the recruitment process and attend interviews
- Ensure tax manual procedures are understood and complied with by self and junior staff
- Ensure all review forms properly completed
- Organisation of personal workload and workspace
- Preparation of budgets and billing for clients
- Completion and submission of accurate timesheets on a weekly basis
- Undertake personal skills training as necessary
- Attending internal courses, including tax conference as required
- Ensure appropriate training given to staff to ensure career progression
- Developing excellent management skills and assisting with staff training – giving presentations/seminars occasionally
- As required – assisting with planning and advisory work (both UK and international) including attending meetings
- Considering generating new work from existing clients and looking for opportunities to develop contacts with other professionals and within the firm
- Managing and developing relationships within and outside the firm
- Assisting directors in marketing activities and other business development activities
Experience / Qualifications:
- Will have previous experience in partnership and personal tax
- Demonstrates an ability to communicate clearly
- Demonstrates a keen interest in client services
- Must encourage and support junior staff and demonstrate good management skills
- Has good all round direct tax knowledge with a particular focus on private clients and professional practice work
- Good commercial awareness for firm and clients and demonstrate good judgement in dealing with client’s affairs
- Demonstrate initiative and the provision of proactive advice to clients
- Increased practice development skills
- Developing and managing relationships with clients and their other advisers.
