Advanced Visual Technology sale to Oracle

4th November 2008

Advanced Visual Technology (AVT) is a leading provider of 3D visual macro space planning software for retailers. The software, called "Retail Focus", is an integrated store floor and shelf space planning and optimization solution designed to develop and execute merchandising initiatives as efficiently as possible.

Smith & Williamson advised AVT on the sale to Oracle Corporation, the world's largest enterprise software company.

Tim Moore, corporate finance director at Smith & Williamson, commented: "The transaction demonstrates that, although current economic conditions are far from ideal, transactions with a strong commercial rationale continue to happen." The transaction is the seventh M&A transaction completed by Smith & Williamson since May 2008.

David Hughes a partner at Foresight Group LLP, AVT's major shareholder added: "Without Tim's hard work and advice over many weeks, this deal would simply not have completed."
