Entrepreneurs to benefit from PBR 2008 in the short term

1st December 2008

We have published our in-depth analysis of the 2008 Pre Budget Report (PBR) which is available free of charge.

Richard Mannion, National Tax Director at Smith & Williamson said: "Given the current state of the economy, it is not surprising that the PBR focused on macro economics. However the Government had to be seen to be doing something to stimulate the economy by supporting small businesses, which Mr Darling referred to as the economic engine room of the UK. Consequently it was good to see that the Chancellor did do something for small businesses. Whilst the cash impact will be relatively small, the delay in introducing the threatened increase in small countries rate corporation tax and the extended loss relief carry back will be of some help."
