Smith & Williamson welcomes Penelope Lang and Peter Treadgold, advisers to the bloodstock and equine sector

Smith & Williamson, the accountancy and investment management group, is delighted to announce that Penelope Lang and Peter Treadgold will be joining the firm's Salisbury office as directors. They bring many years' experience in the bloodstock and equine sector having advised on the financial and tax matters facing owners, breeders, trainers and others working in the industry.
Penelope joins the firm on 1 March 2009. She has a wealth of experience in private client tax, while Peter - who will join the firm later in the year - has a very strong background in accounting and audit issues.
"We are delighted that Penelope and Peter will be joining us. They, rightly, enjoy a national reputation in the equine sector and will work closely with our established teams in the agriculture and landed estates sectors," said Susan Shaw, head of Smith & Williamson's Salisbury office.
Salisbury's bloodstock and equine team of specialists will advise on:
- business structure and planning audit,
- accountancy and compliance with relevant statutes
- the ownership of land and related assets to optimise a client's fiscal position and preserve wealth for the next generation
- business and personal tax compliance and planning, including dealing with enquiries from HMRC
- VAT advice and planning
Peter began his career with Coopers & Lybrand (which subsequently merged with PricewaterhouseCoopers). Latterly, he has worked with Penelope at James Cowper Accountants.
