Smith & Williamson claims Investment House of the Year honour at the STEP awards
Last night (13 October 2009), Smith & Williamson Investment Management won the Investment House of the Year category at the STEP (Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners) awards ceremony.
‘We’re delighted to have been awarded this accolade,’ said David Cobb, Managing Director of Smith & Williamson Investment Management. ‘We have performed well this year, particularly given the economic circumstances. This award gives credit to our people.’
The criteria for the award included demonstrating innovation in private client practice, a highly qualified team, dedication to clients and a broader contribution to the profession, including corporate social responsibility.
‘Despite difficult conditions Smith & Williamson has managed to genuinely preserve capital in their flagship investment offerings. They have been innovative in shifting from benchmark to target returns and have gone through a smooth restructure,’ the judges commented.
‘Our core long term strategy is based on satisfying the growing demand of private clients for independent expert advice on their investment management needs. We employ a personalised and bespoke approach, managing a variety of mandates including ethical investments. We report on investment performance on a half-yearly basis, or more frequently if required,’ said Peter Fernandes, head of Private Client Services at Smith & Williamson Investment Management.
