Nick has over 30 years experience as a practitioner working with all sizes of businesses and professional firms. He has worked with an extensive range of businesses in various industry sectors in his years in practice. He advises clients extensively on financial strategy, business planning and restructuring/change and profit improvement processes.

He also specialises in forensic accounting and litigation support, dealing mainly with commercial, matrimonial, fraud, professional negligence and investigations, acting for both claimants and defendants and as a single joint expert and undertaking expert determinations. He is a member of the Academy of Experts and Expert Witness Institute, as well as being an accredited Mediator for Alternative Dispute Resolution with the Academy of Experts. He also appears in the High Court as an expert witness.

Nick commenced practice in 1974 as a two-partner practice, which grew until he joined Hereward Philips in 1990. He was joint managing partner from 1992-1997 and became a partner of Smith & Williamson in 1999 when Hereward Philips joined the practice of Smith & Williamson.

He also has been heavily involved in his Institute's affairs at both local and regional levels, including having been chairman of the London Society of Chartered Accountants, as well as a member of the ICAEW Audit Registration Committee. He is able to use his extensive experience of practising firms of all sizes to act from a position of knowledge in client/practitioner disputes and professional negligence cases.
