Roy started his City career with three years at Colegrave & Co before joining Laurie Milbank & Co in 1968 where he became a partner in 1976.

In 1989 he joined NCL with a significant portfolio of clients which he continues to manage. NCL later merged with Smith & Williamson at the end of 2002.
