Giles is national head of the assurance & business services division of Smith & Williamson and specialises in advising professional practices and clients regulated by the financial services authority (FSA).
Giles chairs Smith & Williamson's Financial Services & Markets Group that co-ordinates the provision of services to Smith & Williamson's FSA regulated clients. Giles acts as lead director and adviser to a significant number of FSA regulated firms and has considerable expertise in advising on new applications to the FSA and performing investigative and forensic accounting assignments on regulated businesses.
In addition, Giles acts for a range of professional practices, principally legal firms ranging in size from specialist niche partnerships to large city based firms and has advised on a wide range of financial issues relating to partnerships, including incorporation, mergers & acquisitions and the implications of the legal services act.
Giles is a former member of Smith & Williamson's in-house finance committee responsible for monitoring internal financial issues and is a member of the association of partnership practitioners.
Giles is a member of the executive board of Nexia Smith & Williamson.
