Claire has more than 10 years' experience in taxation, having qualified in this specialist field as both a Chartered Tax Adviser and a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practioner's. 

Claire was ‘Big 4' trained at PricewaterhouseCoopers where she specialised in Private Client work. She then moved to BDO Stoy Hayward LLP where she took on the role of the only Tax Manager in the Basingstoke office, gaining experience in limited liability partnerships, share schemes and other tax efficient remuneration mechanisms for owner managed businesses.                       

Subsequently she moved to a larger office where she gained detailed knowledge of the tax issues affecting a wide variety of industries including: manufacturing, property and information technology. Claire has provided advice to businesses in these sectors on  internationally mobile workers, capital allowances, restructuring and research and development claims. All in addition to maintaining her private client knowledge on professional and investment partnerships. 

Claire is an associate director and joined Smith and Williamson in the tax team in January 2008. She is also a member of the CIOT Hampshire Committee.
