Rebecca joined Smith & Williamson in 2004 after managing the global tax affairs of WS Atkins plc. she advises on all aspects of corporation tax, in particular the taxation of intangible assets and intellectual property rights as well as the tax issues facing shareholders, directors and employees. She specialises in working with technology companies on how to maximise their availability to research & development tax relief/tax credits.

Before training as a chartered accountant with Deloitte in London, Rebecca graduated as a chemist and worked as a chemical engineer for Fisons Scientific Instruments. She has always had a keen interest in science and technology and enjoys the insight that working with technology clients provides. As well as advising on the R&D tax relief, she also advises investors looking to invest in start-ups and technology-based companies as to how they can use available tax reliefs to help maximise their investment return.

Rebecca has presented at national and local seminars and at Smith & Williamson's own tax conferences and internal training seminars on the R&D tax regime.
