Jane joined Smith & Williamson in 1996 and has managed the Smith & Williamson Far Eastern Growth Trust (formerly Nucleus Far Eastern Trust) for over 10 years. She has vast knowledge of the Far Eastern region having managed different mandates within several organisations.

Jane’s career began with Midland Bank working on far eastern holdings for an international pension fund. In 1987 she moved to John Govett to manage the Pacific Income Fund and a gold resource fund, winning a performance award in 1988. A tenure at CIM pension fund managers preceded her career at Smith & Williamson. She is involved in the monthly strategy meetings advising on Far Eastern Markets.

Jane has managed far eastern money through the Japanese bull market of the 80s to the bear market of the 90s. She has witnessed the phenomenal progress of the smaller countries and being a lateral thinker enjoys visiting the region regularly gaining empirical knowledge of markets through niche broker contacts and visiting companies in situ.
