Mark spent six years as an institutional stockbroker after training at Wedd Durlacher. In 1992 Mark joined Leopold Joseph & Sons. He was the lead manager of The Enterprise Long/Short Equity Fund, a hedge fund, from its inception in 1998 before joining Smith & Williamson in 2006.

Mark is lead fund manager on the Smith & Williamson Nucleus Enterprise Fund, a long/short hedge fund as well as the long equity funds Smith & Williamson UK Special Situations Trust (formerly Nucleus Special Situations Trust) and the Smith & Williamson UK Equity Growth Trust (formerly Nucleus Growth Trust).
